Week #1 - January 11, 2026 - Mont Blanc (Versant Faustin)

Brahm:
Hi Everyone,
This week we are going to Mont Blanc. Mont Blanc has three sides (1. Versant Mont Blanc, aka the "Hotel" side, 2. Versant Faustin and 3. Versant Nord). We are meeting on the Faustin side, so please look at the map and make sure that you are going to the correct chalet. Here is the address/link for the Faustin side that you can plug into your GPS: 122 Chemin Mont-Blanc, Mont-Blanc, Quebec J0T 1J2
Allow extra driving time - Mont Blanc is the farthest ski centre we visit in the Laurentide program!
This will probably be your earliest (and darkest) morning wake-up of the season...it will get easier, we promise :)

Clinic starts at 8:25 outside. Double-check the staff FB page Saturday night for updates or better yet sign up for the staff WhatsApp updates. Pack your bags the night before so you don’t forget your helmet…gloves…pants…etc.
BRING A LUNCH! There is limited food service on the Faustin side of Mont Blanc.

1) Notes for Week # 1
o Confirm your spot in the car with your carpool
o Arrive at the ski hill by 8:00. You need to be outside at the lifts at 8:25am for morning clinic with your supervisors.
o Lessons are from 10:00-12:00 & 13:00-15:00. Arrive at the class line-up area 10 minutes before the start of each lesson.
All classes will need to do their first run at the Faustin Magic Carpet (beginner area) to verify that students new to RR can turn and control their speed. Check with your supervisor before you head for the main chairlifts.
You will receive a printed attendance card on Sunday morning, so you do not have to print a copy of the attached attendance card. Take some time to learn the names of the kids before Day 1. There may be some changes between now and Day 1 so the lists may be slightly different. The group numbers are NOT in order of level.
At the end of the day indicate in the “description” column for each student if they are aggressive (1) or cautious (2) and the type of terrain that they are best suited for. If a student needs to be moved up or down indicate what level you think that they should be moved to.
Prepare your lesson focusing on BALANCE for the first two weeks. Skiers, please submit your lesson plan for Week 1 as soon as possible at https://staff.rodroy.com/lesson-plan. You can also reach this link from the staff homepage. It should take you no more than 5 minutes to complete.
Ski school chairlift policy: Children ages 8 & under must always ride the chairlift with an adult. This policy also applies to beginners and children ages 9 & older who are too small to pull down the safety bar.
All students wearing a Rod Roy pinnie (indicates that they are in the full supervision program) must always be with a Rod Roy staff member.
Your supervisors:
Brahm Reinblatt 514-975-7373
Amanda Slezak 514-531-7465
2) Washroom breaks
At Mont Blanc, instructors need to bring their class in for a mid-morning and mid-afternoon washroom break, ideally on the Versant Mont Blanc (Hotel side). This is because the washroom facilities are very small on the Faustin side...so the bus kids will not have an opportunity to use the washroom at lunch, like they normally do.
3) Choice of terrain
The easiest run down the Faustin side is Panda. The easiest run down the Hotel side is Yodel. Both Panda and Yodel have steep pitches that can be avoided with a bypass.
Reduce the speed of your group as you approach the class signs or the chairlift.
Ski on appropriate terrain and at the speed of your class. Stop or slow down at intersections to avoid losing students, making sure that all of your class is behind you.

4) Lesson Plans
The lesson plans must be submitted online: WEEKLY SKI LESSON PLAN. You can complete it on your computer, tablet or phone and at any time.
5) Afternoon Ski Improvement Sessions
Sign up now! Talk to your carpool. Jan. 25 or Feb 1
