Royal West Grade 8 Stoneham Ski Trip

Stoneham is one of the premier ski resorts in Eastern North America - with abundant snowfall, amazing views and terrain for all levels of skiers and riders.

Students attending the Royal West Grade 8 Ski and Snowboard Trip will be staying at Hotel Stoneham, situated at the base of the mountain. There is a limited amount of space and applicants will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.

All students must wear helmets while skiing and riding.

The trip includes:

  • Deluxe coach bus transportation to/from MONTREAL
  • Accommodations for two nights
  • Meals (2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners)
  • Lift tickets: 3 days at Stoneham
  • Tubing/rating at Village Vacances Valcartier
  • Ski instruction for students (12 hours of lessons)
  • Services of a Ski Evolution guide

January 31 – February 2, 2024


Wednesday Jan.31

07:30 Arrive at Royal West Academy

08:00 Departure from school

11:30 Arrival at Stoneham.  Check in to rooms or put bags into storage

12:00 Lunch in the Tewksbury Room.  Bring from home.

12:30 Pick up skis in the rental shop (if necessary)

13:15 Division of students into ski groups.  Meet at the coral.

13:30 Ski lessons. Meet at the coral.  Lessons finish at 16:30

16:30 ​Ski equipment into storage.  Return to rooms to unpack.

18:00 Dinner in the cafeteria

19:00 Night skiing

20:30  Return your ski equipment into the storage room

20:45 ​Return to the hotel directly across the street

22:00 Lights out


Thursday Feb.1

7:30   Wake-up

8:30   Breakfast in cafeteria

09:30 ​Ski lessons

12:00 Lunch in the Tewksbury Room

13:00 Ski lesson

15:30 Ski equipment into storage

16:30 Dinner in the Tewksbury Room

17:15 Departure for Village Vacances Valcartier

17:45 Tubing/Rafting at Village Vacances Valcartier.  Closes at 8pm.

20:00 Return to Stoneham

20:30 In rooms (begin packing bags)

22:00 Lights out


Friday Feb.2      

7:00   Wake up. Packing and clean-up of rooms

8:00   Baggage into storage

8:30 ​  Breakfast in the Cafeteria

9:30   Ski lessons

12:15  ​Lunch in Cafeteria

13:00 Ski lesson (1.5 hours)

14:30 Ski equipment returned to the rental shop

14:45 Load the buses

15:15 Departure for Montreal

18:45 Arrival at Royal West (approx.)



Lodging

HOTEL STONEHAM:  Each room will accommodate 4 students. 

Situated at the base of the mountain. Ski in/Ski out!

Transportation by deluxe coach bus

Amenities included: washroom, TV-DVD, comfortable seats and large luggage compartments. Relax and enjoy the ride to the slopes!

Departure: 08h00 am on Jan. 31st  (please arrive at school no later than 7h30 am)

Return: 6:45 pm approx. on Feb. 2nd

Cost and Payment

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: November 30


The package cost per student is $660.00


Payment Instructions:  Payment can be made by cheque or credit card.


If paying by credit card the transaction will be done through the online registration process and transaction fees will be added upon checkout.   If the trip is cancelled for whatever reason, including a teacher's strike, the credit card transaction fees are non-refundable.  There are no transaction fees if you pay by cheque.


If paying by cheque, please make your cheque payable to Ski Evolution Inc. and return your cheque to Ms. Belina in Room 314. Please write the student's name and "RWA8" on the front of your cheque.    A $15 service charge will be assessed for any cheque returned by your financial institution. 


Trip Cancellation insurance:
  The package cost ($660.00) includes trip cancellation insurance that offers a full refund for medical reasons (including  Covid-19) up until 48 hours prior to the trip departure date.   A claim for medical reasons must be supported by a doctor's note at the time a claim is requested.  This trip cancellation insurance does not provide coverage for cancellations on account of removal from the trip for poor behavior or disciplinary reasons, lack of interest, weather conditions, missing the bus departure time, etc.  Credit card transaction fees are non-refundable if you elect to pay by credit card.


Refund Policy (cancellation for non-medical related reasons not covered by the Trip Cancellation Insurance)

  • ​45 days to 15 days prior to departure = 50% refund of total trip cost
  • ​Less than 15 days prior to departure = no refund


Equipment Rentals: If you require equipment rentals, please add to your payment.  Helmets are compulsory for all students.  Equipment rental (skis or snowboard) is an extra $102 for three days.  Helmet rental is an extra $27 for three days.  Students are responsible for their rental equipment. Lost or stolen rental equipment will cost the student $600 (snowboard) or $550 (skis). Students are not to leave their equipment unattended at any time.


All students will be required to sign and respect a Behavioral Contract.  Any unacceptable behavior will result in a telephone call home informing you that your son/daughter will be sent home at your expense. There will be no refunds issued under these circumstances.
